You Can Customize the Size and Scale of A Mural
Each of our murals has a maximum print width and height. Chances are those are not the dimensions of your own wall.
Just below and to the right of the main product images on a mural product page, you will see an orange box, labeled "CUSTOMIZE FOR MY ROOM."
The Cropping Tool
When you click on that box, we pop open an editing, or "cropping" tool. Enter the overall height and width of your wall. You can use feet plus inches, or just inches, by choosing with the box labeled Select Unit. We don't allow you to enter more than the maximum print size. If the max is 20 and you enter 23, the box will show 20.
Once your dimensions are entered, grid lines are plotted over a full image of the mural, showing what part you get with your dimensions. That grid line box can be dragged around to choose a portion of the mural you prefer.
Most of the time, you'll want the entire mural. For that choice, drag the grid to the top left corner. Then, using your mouse, select the blue square in the lower right hand corner of the mural and drag it into your grid frame. If the aspect ratio of your wall is the same as our mural, you'll get a perfect match. usually, there will be a sacrificial strip, either vertically or horizontally that must be edited out. You can still drag your frame around to capture the best part, making sure, for example, to capture the focal point of the picture in the center of the frame.
Trim Strips - How Big and Why
Whatever your dimensions are, we will add 2" extra on all 4 sides to make sure that when you install, we fill the wall, even if one of your walls isn't perfectly level or plumb. This can add 5 to 10 square feet to a typical order, roughly $30 to $60, as insurance against coming up short when it matters most in a custom mural print. We show this calculation on the customizer page, so you can see the impact on your order quantity and price before you save your work and add the mural to your Cart to check out.
